GORING BY SEA / WORTHING

Another Tourist resort, so expect heavy traffic and little parking space during the high summer months (unless it is windy and wet!!). At the Goring end of this long beach there’s a car park next to the Yacht Club, which is the main windsurfing area for Worthing. There are further car parks to the west along with free on road parking all the way along the seafront to Ferring (another popular spot). Ideal winds are E through the S to W and sailing conditions can range from newcomer to Pro. One point to note about Worthing…due to its very gentle sloping seabed, launching or landing at low tide means a long walk across a patchwork of rocks and sand so do bring a spare fin should you decide to sail at this time as it will be shallow for ages once you have reached the water! – A fin wrecking experience. However, this slope compliments sailing at high tide, as it has the least choppiest water in the area. There are beaches to the East of Worthing pier but they are the main areas for the tourists so you may not be welcome. Preferred wind directions are the same from Goring to East Worthing but worth noting that the western end of Worthing gets the best sea breeze effect.
