NEWGALE SANDS

Regarded as Pembrokeshire’s BIG wave beach, Newgale Sands can produce some awesome conditions and is definitely not recommended for beginners. The best conditions for windsurfing are S and SE winds, which also produce the biggest swells. N winds do produce some flat water though and, on the rare occasion, some good wave sailing conditions and frontside riding but if you enjoy waves then sail in S winds. All sailors are advised not to go out if the tide is up on the shingle bank on the beach, because people have been known to loose all their kit! Other dangers at this beach include very strong cross shore currents, which increase as the waves pick up. Visitors are recommended to treat Newgale with a healthy measure of respect!
