THORPE BAY
At Thorpe Bay there is a long tide making it a very good place if you want to sail all day. The best time for beginners to sail is two hours either side of high tide when the water is chest deep for one mile. For intermediates it’s the perfect place to learn how to water-start as it is possible to make the transition from beach-start to water-start in a fairly safe environment. The only real problem with this location is the many boats in the area and this can sometimes be hazardous for sailors.
