POST EVENT
Matteo Iachino: I don’t always switch off after an event. Often there is testing to do with Remi Villa who comes to a lot of events. I will try and relax at some point and think about something else. The most important thing I learned from last year between Sylt and Noumea was to not get stressed about the rankings. You cannot focus on only one thing in life, otherwise you will get too much stress. I will try and go mountain biking or surfing and hang with my girlfriend and my friends. You need to have fun in different ways not only windsurfing. If you dwell and think too much then you can end up ruining your chances. When I lost the title race last year I was way too stressed. I was feeling that I had to train more and more. I went mental, I was training in the gym, training on the water, training, training, and training! I did not have fun, relax or do anything away from windsurfing. So now I make sure I switch off my mind and have some fun as well.
Ross Williams: I think it pays to clean everything off after an event. I sometimes might not sail on slalom gear for another few weeks, so if it is all sandy and unorganized when I come to use it again it does not feel so good. I like to travel and have everything nice and clean and organized. I takes the straps off the boards, take the vents out and pack spare wetsuits between and around the tail of the board. After an event I like to hang out with my wife, surf, windsurf or kitesurf. I also have work to do for GA and Tabou, so I am always busy and able to focus on other parts of my life.
