To call Waddell Creek in California a movie set isn't exactly the sort of thing the Hollywood boys further south have in mind. But it takes a bit of beating for waves and wind and it's the place to be when Maui is flat in the summer. So that's why a bunch of top windsurfers and a movie crew gathered to embark upon their latest screen epic. There were a few things to get used to like 11 degrees water temperature and the odd Great White but if you're gonna be a movie star you have to put up with a bit of hardship...
Talking of which, sharks that is, we've been researching the number of times windsurfer meets shark and, almost inevitably, what happens next. Scary stuff which might make you wonder why you windsurf at all!
Well, just in case you're not certain we've listed 27 good, no make that very good reasons to go windsurfing and that doesn't include loving it to pieces.
Then Peter Hart, continues to go big and tries some underpowered as well as planing gybes using a huge rig. Jim Collis sails back winded in his freestyle series while Guy Cribb puts lessons aside for a month and bunks off, going instead for a downwind blast with a bunch of TWATS - The Windsurfers Along The South that is.
We report from events In Ireland and the PWA comps in Lanzerote, Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura, continue to hear the views of the Champions League, steer clear of drug wars and swine flu in Baja but still manage to take advantage of the coast's amazing windsurfing conditions and that's not even slightly dipping into the best news section in the windsurfing world - BoardShorts.
