Santa Maria is located on the southern tip of Sal Island – home to the spacious main centre of ION CLUB. The second centre is located on the east side of the bay about 10-15 min. walk from the main centre. 

Best Conditions
The Cape Verde islands boast perfect wind and wave conditions from November until May. The cross-offshore or side shore wind from the left enables effortless upwind sailing to the various sections of the beach.

From the ION CLUB centre you can sail directly from the flat water section into two fantastic wave spots: Ponta Leme upwind and Ponta Sino downwind.

Spot 1
Santa Maria, the water is a little choppy with some shorebreak. Flat water past jetty. Further out, there is nice swell for wave novices.

Spot 2
Ponta Leme offers  windsurfing, surfing and SUP rental and lessons.

Spot 3
Kite Beach, daily shuttle available.

Transportation
Taxis cost about 2 euro /km. A rental car is not by all means necessary. For kitesurfers we organize daily taxi-shuttle to the kite beach.

Accommodation
To stay right on the spot we recommend hotel Oasis Atlantico – Salinas Sea and Hotel Morabeza. If you prefer apartments – Ponta Preta Apartments.

Eating & Drinking
Try the national dish Cachupa at “Angela” or fresh tuna at “Fisherman”. At night go to “Ocean Cafe”, “Calema” or “Pirata” to dance and party.
