Background
The Naish Rally range is designed to deliver all-round easy freeride handling, with sizes from 1.4 up to 7.9, covering all corners of freeriding. The larger sails are built for zero cam freeride power, while the smaller sails, 4.6 down, are designed for beginners, smaller riders and kids.

At a glance
The 7.9 is the biggest in the range, sporting six battens and a fairly long luff length. The build quality and materials are top notch, utilising the X-166 ply, resulting in a lightweight and quality bit of kit, that features all the usual Naish tech.

Rigging
It is a quick and easy sail to rig and tune, setting on a 490 mast – we tested it on a Naish SDM 90. The rigging is completely hassle free and you really can’t go wrong when it comes to tuning, it always feels right for the conditions.

Performance
It is super lightweight and perfectly balanced in the hands, the power feeds in smoothly but it is certainly no slouch when you want to get going and it accelerates very quickly. Its wind range is highly impressive, delivering heaps of low-down grunt in the lulls and in the gusts it holds its shape perfectly, giving you comfortable and controlled handling in all conditions. Blasting on the Naish, you will always feel in control, which means you can fully focus on going as fast as you want, regardless of the conditions. When you need to turn around, its light and crisp handling means you can send it into corners at full speed and rely on a balanced rotation, with smooth power to accelerate you out of the other side.

The verdict
The Naish Rally really impressed us on the test, it is one of the biggest sails in this group, so it was no surprise that it was one of the best in the light winds but it was also one of the best in the stronger winds, holding its shape perfectly and remaining easy to handle. It is light, fast and great fun to use. Highly recommended for all-round freeride blasting.
