Background
The T4 is Tushingham’s zero cam all-round freeride and freerace sail. With sizes ranging from 6.0 up to 8.5 it is designed to deliver pure freeride blasting performance.

At a glance
It has a six batten frame, with a low foot and a slightly cut back clew. The range is unchanged from last years model, which had undergone a complete overhaul from the previous model. The Tushingham is well built, with plenty of re-enforcement in all the critical areas.

Rigging
It is completely trouble free to rig and it also has a decent tuning range that can be tweaked to suit the conditions, although it is a sail that is not too critical of fine-tuning and handles well on all settings. It rigs on a 460 mast and we tested it on a Tushingham Ultimate Pro 100% carbon SDM.

Performance
It is light in the hands and has a very balanced and neutral feel, which makes it a very easy sail to use and get on with. The bottom end grunt is superb and it is also highly responsive to a few pumps, if you feel the need to get going even earlier. At the top end it is a quick sail and in the gusts it never loses its shape, maintaining full control and simply accelerating faster. Blasting along it is a seriously easy and comfortable sail to use and this gives you a lot of confidence to push it harder. Through manoeuvres its balanced and neutral handling means you can forget about it in the gybe – you can also always rely on plenty of grunt to power you out of the exit if you need it.

The verdict
The T4 is a classic – completely hassle free to rig and tune. It delivers awesome performance, top speeds and handling through a wide wind range. It is one of the first to get going in lighter wind conditions and also one of the last to get over powered when the wind picks up. Perfect for any level of freeride blaster or freeracer who want maximum performance with minimum effort.
