Tenerife Living
I always wanted to live in the Canaries – because of the weather, because I could windsurf, and because it looks like Spain, but it’s somewhere completely different. I am really happy to be settled in Tenerife, but for sure there are things we lack, like if you need to do some official paperwork, it’s impossible! But you get used to the Canarian way of life. What I really miss is my family, my dad and my sister, but every time I go back to Barcelona I think, “I don’t know if I could live here”. I definitely prefer to live in the Canaries than in Barcelona, that is for sure.
Flying
Windsurfing sort of happened by accident. I applied to go to university in the USA to become a pilot, but then I thought I would give the world cup a try, just to see how it would go. The first year I was top 15, so I gave it another year and finished top 10 and since then I have always been in the top 10. So it sort of happened by accident and maybe if I had not had a good year we wouldn’t be sat here in Cape Town and maybe I would be flying you home! I see in my life so many things happen by accident. What I love about flying is the freedom, to think that you are able to drive a machine that flies! That is something that you cannot describe until you can do it. Right now I am able to fly single engine planes, but one of my dreams is to be able to fly commercial airline planes, that is something I can just dream of right now but who knows in the future.
