ADAM LEWIS
I’d never been to Northern Ireland before, but after loads of trips south of the border I was really keen to check out something new, especially after the first part of this Motley crew strike had been so successful in Magheroarty. One thing that really sticks in my mind looking back at the trip now is how stunning the whole of Ireland is. Easily one of my favourite places on the planet! Gorgeous long beaches, incredible headlands, green rolling hills; it’s still so wild. Anyway, back to Benone, as far as perfect setups for sailing go it’s got to be up there. Massive beach with loads of peaks, not to mention a cool cafe, hot showers and top changing room out of the cold! When we arrived the wind didn’t look like it was playing ball, but a quick caffeine pit stop and the wind started filling in a little and Timo was straight out on the water. The shifty peaks and wind were a little challenging but once you’d found a peak that would run it was really fun and I’d love to go back on a windier day because the jumping must be epic too! The wind dropped just in time for the dash to the ferry after the obligatory stops at a few key Game of Thrones hotspots and the Mullen family home for a delicious dinner and some very welcome hospitality. All in all, an epic trip and I can’t wait for the next Motley crew invite this autumn!
