SICK CONDITIONS
Just before we headed over to Yarmouth, where our safety boat’s stationed, I receive a call from Ross asking if his girlfriend Fatima can join us in the boat. “Sure no problem’ I reply ‘Fatima will love it out there, she’ll be right in front of one of the best views in the whole of England, make sure she has some warm clothes!” The one thing I forgot to ask was if Fatima suffers from seasickness at all? Big mistake! Cruising up the Solent would probably be fine, but drifting around outside the Needles in the rolling swells was a recipe for disaster for a person prone to motion sickness. We would soon find out … Rather than try and rig in the boat, the plan was to let Ross sail upwind to the Needles from Thorness Bay whilst myself, Fatima and James blasted up from Yarmouth in the RIB.
