COAST – EYE OF THE NEEDLES!

The wind was a steady Force 5 and the sea state mildly rough, but well within the capabilities of the ex-Lifeboat, so we cruised up without a hitch, everyone still smiling. Out at the Needles, I was immediately in awe of the surroundings. It’s one thing looking at pictures of this place, but actually being out there with the white cliffs looming in the background is something else. After ten minutes cruising around waiting for Ross to sail up, Fatima was starting to look kind of green. The motion of the boat definitely not agreeing with her. Another few minutes and she was hanging over the side, already in a terrible state of seasickness – this was not ideal!

On one hand, my conscience was telling me to head back and drop her in Yarmouth, which would potentially blow this whole shoot, while the other choice was to let her suffer and carry on with the exercise regardless. When would this opportunity come again? The sun was just about to burst through the clouds, the wind was a steady 20 knots and Ross had just made it up in front of the lighthouse. Decision mad – let her suffer, sorry Fatima!
