COAST – EYE OF THE NEEDLES!

FULLY STACKED

So while Fatima crawled around the damp floor of the RIB, occasionally dragging herself over the side to throw up, myself, James and Ross went about this on-water photo-shoot trying not to feel too guilty. Manoeuvring a RIB around in front of the Needles was certainly tricky business as we constantly tried to change angles so Ross could sail between us and the lighthouse. After about 30 minutes of blasting, Ross headed into Sctratchells Bay for a quick breather allowing Fatima a few moments out of the rolling swells as we brought the RIB in close to shore. This is the only beach on the Island not accessible by land and Ross is probably the first windsurfer to ever step foot on its shingle. After a short exploration of this remote spot, Ross headed back towards the jagged chalk stacks and then proceeded to thread the needle, which in sailing terms means passing through the gap between the first and second rock.
