DIETER VAN DER EYKEN – WESTERN AUSTRALIA

There’s no extravagance on these trips. The people who go to Australia in wintertime are the ones that search for amazing spots without too many people on the water and who like to travel and drive around (a lot!), live in a van on the beach – and don’t mind some flies on the occasional windless morning. As a young kid I used to go on holiday every school vacation with my parents in our camper, travelling throughout Europe searching for the best wind and spots. In Australia you do the same thing. Instead of renting a house, you rent or buy a van, make a bed in it and hit the road. This trip is all about camping on the beach, using cold showers – which are provided almost everywhere in Australia – and enjoying the sunset with a beer in the hand or while sailing your last few runs before it gets dark! What can I say, traveling like this is how I grew up and how I still like to explore a different country. During this trip my girlfriend and I discovered so many special places, but the next four moments made the trip unforgettable!
