TRAVEL COSTS AND TIPS
Van: 3000 AUD (Approx. Euro 2100) + $350 (to build bed and storage) / General prices around 2500 – 4500 AUD.
Distance travelled: I clocked up just over 10,000 km!
Fuel cost: Average fuel petrol cost around 1.1 euro/litre.
Campsites: Around 25 to 40 AUD a night.
Free camping: only allowed outside of the cities or at least 15 km. from nearest town but also at highway rest places, normally shown on signs at side of the road.
Food costs: Around Euro 900 for 2 people for 2.5 months. Always buy food that’s on sale! It can save a lot of money!
Don’t: Drive at night, forget to apply sunscreen, complain about too much driving, worry about sharks!
Do: Buy a local simcard with data to check Seabreeze daily, buy mosquito spray, buy car electricity converter to charge everything while driving saves you a night at the campsite, always try to buy fuel just outside or on the borders of the city – it’s always cheaper. On long trips to the north or the south check before where there are gas stations (sometimes they’re 300 km. apart). Enjoy the trip!
