GUNSAILS MARCH - TOP

HIGHCLIFFE – STORM ELEANOR

REHAB
Timo and Jamie, who were both back from their festive flus, had made the sensible call for a signal in the water to indicate if they were in trouble. They had said they would be taking it easy, but within ten minutes of the session Timo had smashed out a huge aerial and Jamie had just landed the highest back loop of the day. By 2pm a few of the crew from Avon had rocked up to join the party. The call by those in the know is to sail Avon on the high tide and then catch Highcliffe once it starts dropping. Ben Page, James Cox, Nic Hibdige and several locals plus a hardy group of Dorset’s finest lensmen were all now gunning for the action. By this time the wind had calmed down from the wild scenes overnight and early morning but it was still coming through in strong gusty patches rather than a solid gale. Once the tide had backed off the cliff the waves were much cleaner and open to attack but with the swell slightly dropping it looked like a better combo would have been low tide in the morning with the peak of the waves. At least there was still plenty of fun on the water to be had and with the danger factor subsiding, this was well and truly the time to reap the rewards of storm Eleanor!
