MOROCCAN HEART

I passed many shepherds in Moulay. These people spend their days following and minding their herd and pulling water from their wells. It seamed that this simple life brings so much happiness and a sense of fulfilment to the shepherd. One morning Duncan Coombs and I walked the beach for hours exploring the coastline and observing the locals harvesting seaweed into rice bags to place on their broken rusted bikes or donkeys back to their homes to cook for their families or sell in the many miraculous markets. Duncan has an eye for things. He pointed out to me “What a great photo that would be Sam, don’t you think?” It was a hole in a rock on the beach. We were in a part of the beach that had many waist deep holes but this hole was vertical, framing the sky and ocean. Duncan has a special way of truly living in the moment, which I aspire to improve in myself. I cherish the time I spend with him. I know the event is the reason I was there, but something more happened to me in Morocco. My heart was touched by the passion of the people for life. It is not the material things I am so accustomed to in my day-to-day life that makes these people shine. It is their love for life and love of their homeland. I would like to thank Boujmaa from the bottom of my heart for sharing this special gift that is Morocco. I am counting the days until I return.
