JOHN SKYE
Having John in charge of sails was a natural development. Skyeboy has always been a very nice, friendly person and works hard. He has a human approach. I have always respected his methodology, which has always been listening to all the feedback that other people are giving him. Before he makes his own choice, he listens right up to the last moment the suggestions from all sides. He is a very balanced person. He knows how to make judgements and decisions. I like that type of approach. I am looking more for people like that to work in the company. It reflects my own way of thinking. When it boiled down to having somebody who could develop the sail program properly for us, the choice was natural. He has the right attitude and the inclination to learn how to manufacture a sail, design a sail, make the rig components and improve the performance. He is a talented rider but he is also becoming a technical expert who has learned the dynamics and physics of sails and how they work. I have really seen a great improvement on the work he has done on the complete range. It is also thanks to his work that we have been able to increase our presence in the market ‘big time’; our sail and rig component department has grown 300% in the last four years thanks to him! That is really great news. We have been working on a very nice contract for him that allows him to grow along with the company, so I think he is pretty happy.
