THE FOIL DEBATE
I spend a lot of time wind foiling at home and I really think this is going to be a big part of windsurfing in the future. I still love waves of course, how can you not? There is not one wave the same, every wave is different and they are a never-ending source of inspiration!
The light wind department of windsurfing has become very complicated and expensive. All the equipment is also bulky to carry around. With foiling it fills the gap where you may have needed a ten metre sail to get going. Instead you can use a much smaller sail with foiling so that could be an area where we may be able to narrow down the amount of equipment a sailor needs to cover all the options. A lot of guys have been lost through those big sails, which are boring, expensive and bulky and looked to alternative sports or kite boarding. I am fully into wind foiling.
