WINDSURFERS AGAINST KITERS IN RED BULL TARIFA2
– Red Bull tell us more –
• The first epic battle between both sports will take place in Tarifa in September to decide which is the fastest.
• Up to 300 sailors will participate in the event with registrations open through: redbull.com/tarifados

Up to 300 wind lovers will meet from September 19 to 22 in Tarifa, Spain, to participate in the Red BullTarifa2, a new event that will face windsurfers and kitesurfers for the first time in a massive battle to demonstrate which of the two sports is the fastest.
Windsurfing and kitesurfing are two of the most spectacular water sports disciplines linked by a common denominator: the wind. Sails and kites from around the world share every year the wind of Tarifa, Cádiz
(Spain), one of the biggest international paradises for both sports whose historical rivalry has given rise to this unique confrontation which aims to have a competitive spirit but “good vibes” in the water.
Two seas, two winds – the wonderful beaches of El Balneario and Valdevaqueros will witness this epic duel. Tarifa is a place with a very particular duality: two seas converge, the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea, and
there are two prevailing winds, Poniente and Levante. If we add two spectacular sports, we have a sensational cocktail called Red Bull Tarifa2.
Competition format
The event will run two downwind speed races in which kitesurfers and windsurfers will compete simultaneously in two massive battles.
The first battle will take into account the individual result and seek to decide which is the fastest sport.
150 riders (maximum marked by discipline) of each specialty will fight to be the first to cross the finishing line. The sport that first manages to place 20 of its riders will be crowned as the fastest in Tarifa in 2019 and keep this title until the next edition in 2020.
The second battle will be a team competition. To that end, each participant will have to look for a partner for the following challenge: to be the fastest tandem (windsurfer / kiter). A competitors BBQ at the end of the first day of competition will help everyone get together.
The event waiting period will last four days. The organization will be selecting the best two days in terms of wind forecast. The wind will decide the itinerary of the event: if Levante blows, the starting point will
be placed at El Balneario beach and the finish in Valdevaqueros (Tumbao). If Poniente wind is on, starting and finishing line will be reversed.
Among the confirmed athletes are World Champions Gisela Pulido (10x Kitesurfing Champion) and Björn Dunkerbeck (42x Windsurfing Champion). It will be an unique opportunity to see them in action!
Registration will be open until September 20 through redbull.com/tarifados
