JC: So it has been thirty years on tour and right this moment in time it is pretty much over, what are you feeling right now?
BD: I feel good. I had a pretty good competition and made the finals in three rounds which were the windiest ones. The ones I did not go through there was a big hole at the first mark so obviously I didn’t accelerate out of the gybe as well as the others. Overall I am pretty happy. I was 13th into the last round until that rookie mistake. All in all I am satisfied we had a windy slalom competition to finish it all off with. It was not the best way to go out, I was not expecting to win here but I had good speed and a few good heats. I won a couple of losers finals in the early rounds, so it was not so bad.
JC: Are you sticking with all the same sponsors next year?
BD: Yes, plus there will be a few more new ones coming in as well. The newest one being Juice Plus which is a very natural energy boosting supplement for food. The wheels of industry are still rolling for me, it does not all depend on the slalom as well, I’ll tell you that, there are lots more opportunities out there.
What are you going to do when you get back to Gran Canaria?
BD: My daily routine is mostly stand up paddle, windsurf and to go biking. I have to keep everything rolling as well. I am still going to be a professional sailor so there are plenty of business commitments to work on. I have all sorts to take care of between the surf school, surf shop and also the Siam Park project. We are helping the designers to make a new wave in the projected Gran Canaria Siam Park. That should be finished in less than two years now. That wave is supposed to be bigger, better and longer. I already have a shop and I am trying to get a surf school up and running in Tenerife. I have a few other projects that I can’t even talk about at the moment but there are definitely a lot more things in my life happening than any of you guys can imagine!
