CABO VERDE – ON FIRE

While Ali Baba requires big swell overall, it also requires a specific NNW swell direction to truly allow the wave to begin to march down the whole point and into the bay, ending up in the shore break where one parks. Too west it will shut down, and won’t go all the way. The distance ridden from the outside of the peak to the beach can be equal parts terror and joy all in the same ride. It is easy to justify kicking out early, due to fatigue, or simply disbelief that the entire ride is makeable.
