We’ve been travelling to these places all over for a while now and have had a couple of skunkings on occasions, which we have learnt from. So we look at the forecasts and work out the timings, what the conditions are like and whether the whole crew have the time. Then make a last minute decision. It’s always worth it I’d say. We always have a great time and I always come back having pretty much laughed the whole trip. Plus Stena Line put us in a cabin for the night, which eased the overnight travel a lot. For me my packing list gets bigger when I do more filming and drone stuff. So I have quite an important checklist as if I forget one thing then it’s basically a disaster. We had one good trip to the Isle of Lewis a year or two ago where we windsurfed every day and it just got better and better each day.
We found an old house to stay in for £5 a night each. It had a log fire, we got pissed, sailed every day until we dropped and laughed the entire trip. On the way back we stopped via Cairngorm and went snowboarding! What more can you ask for? Road trips always deliver!
