JAMIE HANCOCK
Going on these short adventures is always fun but if you commit to the costs of going and the time spent just to sail crappy conditions then it becomes a bad call. Friends, waves and visiting somewhere incredible are what it is all about. If it wasn’t for windsurfing I wouldn’t have got to have seen or experienced more than half of the places I’ve been.
I absolutely love getting on a ferry to Scotland or Ireland in search of the perfect day, it never gets boring. We are always scanning forecasts for England, Ireland, Wales and Scotland to see where could be firing. This autumn was very disappointing for someone living on the south coast of England so whenever there was a solid forecast and time would allow then we were 100% fired up for it. On this occasion Ireland had the best looking charts and Stena Line were kind enough to support our journey, which was fantastic.
The right crew is very important. I’ve been lucky to grow up with such a great crowd all loving windsurfing and these types of trips. Timo has been a massive factor in that he is someone who is always pushing to go. We aren’t all kids living at home doing what we want any more so you need that positivity and will to go. Timo is the perfect windsurfing travel partner. I also like taking some of the younger guys who get to experience what I did for the first time and seeing how much they love it.
