FAVOURITES
I was particularly proud of our freestyle sail. When I started four years ago we did not have a freestyle sail. It was the first sail I made from scratch. The basis of it was from our wave sail and then I moved forward from there, but the sail was all my own concepts. It has ended up being very successful. The freestyle world is quite tight and the word is that ours is one of, if not the best freestyle sail out there. A lot of guys want to use our sail and I am quite proud of that. The other project I am really happy with is the Airwindsurf Compact sail. It’s still very early days but I think this concept has the potential to revolutionise the sport. It could possibly be one of the biggest innovations in windsurfing since the 2 part mast 30 years ago! Right now we have a complete rig that fits into a back pack. That is mast, boom, base, sail… everything. And this is a fully functioning 5 batten freeride sail, it’s not a toy windsurfer. At the moment we just have a freeride model that was designed to go with the inflatable board, but seeing how great the sail works really opened my eyes. Imagine travelling with a single board bag and a quiver of sails in a backpack? It brings a new level of transportability to windsurfing and for those limited with space. Like I said it’s just the beginning but I think the concept has HUGE potential.
