It was brilliant to meet Pavel again after 18 years without any contact, it made us both very happy. If I hadn’t found windsurfing, life for me would have been very different, I would have been a fisherman like my father and grandfather; that is a hard life. Life in our village has changed because of windsurfing also, now around 90% of the businesses are connected to windsurfing or watersports. The next generation of windsurfers in Moulay are already super keen, they want to be like Boujmaa! From 10 years old they are already at a good standard – riding waves and jumping but they are afraid to go super big in case they wreck their precious gear. (Editor’s note– if you do visit Moulay and have some excess gear, think about leaving some for the kids like Pavel did for Abderazaq.)
Now along with my rental and surf shop, I have opened up my guest house and even though my days are busy I still love to windsurf any chance I get. It is my passion and I owe it to Pavel and all the other people for letting me find it!”
