JOSH ANGULO
In the Bible, God promised the Jews ‘The Promised Land’ when they were in captivity, and although the last 8 years, by no means have I been in captivity, a recent family move to Portugal for me has felt like arriving into ‘The Promised Land’. After 6 awesome years in Boston, which we still miss and love, we spent 2 more years in Florida, always shuttling back and forth to Cabo Verde. As nice as Florida is, it didn’t click with us and our family and lifestyle etc. and although we love Boston, I got accustomed to not having cold winters and didn’t want to go back there (yet). With business interests in Cabo Verde and our family’s strong roots there we always need to be close to C.V., so we brainstormed the idea of moving to Portugal. Once Claudia and I got fired up, everything went quickly into motion and combine that with another pregnancy (Jeremiah is now born…..actually was born in Cascais), and a couple of slalom events between, we had a very hectic summer trying to get rid of everything in the USA and set up logistics in Portugal. Sparing you some of the details, I’ve now found myself in an amazing location, where my wife is surrounded by many Capverdians, both family and friends. Noah and Josiah are in a killer English Christian school a stone’s throw from our new house (and great surf right down the street) and I have a 10 minute commute to Guincho which has got my windsurf juices fully flowing again.
