I will always feel blessed for the 8 years I had on the east coast of America and marked by certain influences (Go Patriots!), yet I really didn’t have a core spot right down the street from my house as I always did growing up on Maui and when I was full time in C.V., and now I do again. For sure as we head into winter, we won’t have the steady “Nortada” wind that we did all summer this season in Guincho, but with all the close by slalom spots and fired up group of local slalom sailors, headed up by my buddy and all around awesome dude, Augusto Teixeira, there’s always somewhere to sail. Between the gnarly Guincho sessions, the idyllic down the line of Costa Caparica and the “real deal” port tack sessions of Peniche, which I have yet to taste, I feel like a kid all over again and feel so fortunate to get myself and my family fully dialled back into the ocean.
