No jetskis. No swimming to the wind line from Maliko Gulch. No worries! That’s right, Jason Polakow and Robby Swift just jumped right in from under the cliffs for a memorable JAWS sailing session!
February 2013. The morning started out perfect with the wind starting to blow early at around 9am and a good forecast for waves at Jaws, nothing huge but a fun size.

NO SPARK
Robby Swift and I met around 10:30am at our beach access launch, tied the gear onto the ski and started making our way up to Jaws. We usually try to go up on 2 jet skis to make it easier and safer to rig up and have a safety ski driving around and the other ski for a videographer but, during some maintenance work, Robby had snapped one of his spark plugs in half inside the motor of his ski, so we were both packed onto mine.
About 20 minutes into the trip, my ski broke down and we found ourselves in dangerous waters. The ski would only work in an idle position and any action on the throttle cable would cut the engine.
