39: Who would you love to beat in a wave heat?
What a question! I guess everyone would love to beat Philip! He is the best!
40: Where do you see yourself in 10 years’ time?
Hopefully I can still be competing at some level as a professional windsurfer but I can’t say for sure. Maybe other things will be more important to me such as having a family and settling down but I always see myself involved in water sports for the rest of my life.
41: How much work did you put into the new Gaastra race sails this year?
We have a sick testing programme now that continuously runs throughout the year to make sure that the sails are amazing. We always have new ideas how to develop the products so I guess next year we’ll make progress yet again.
42: How tough is it to make the top-10 at a PWA race event?
It can be very hard sometimes and frustrating if you’re unlucky, like hitting something in the water as I did in Italy this year where we only raced one elimination with no chance to come back. And also there are a lot of good sailors out there who only specialise in slalom and are able to focus on that all through the year.
43: How important are race fins?
Fins are one of the most important things. You could be world’s no.1 but if you don’t have a competitive fin you won’t win an event.
