So the last thing I needed on December the 30th was for Hunty to start harping on that Hayling was on like Donkey Kong, with the tide and best wind and waves lined up from midday onwards. But even so, one side of me still wanted a piece of Hayling and this storm looked to be bang on the perfect forecast for a repeat of the reported all time session. Checking the ferries, if everything went bang on schedule I could catch the 11am sailing, be on Hayling by noon, shoot until 2:30pm, be back on the 3:15 boat and at my mate’s house with a beer in hand for 4:15! Phew!, yes it was a tall order but easily possible, plus I knew from past experience it would not take me long to catch up on beer drinking and the competitive party games once I was on location back on the island.
With the plan in motion I was all set for an early date on New Year’s Eve with Hunty, Jack, Chris and the unknown character Frank. The forecast up in the north of the UK was for severe 80 mph winds and torrential rain, while down south we had force six to eight, wall to wall sunshine and a 4 metre swell charging up the channel; game on!
