SIMMER STYLE MARCH 2025 -TOP

VICTOR FERNANDEZ, AT HOME

The next morning I caught the punctual 10.05 EasyJet flight back to London Gatwick, touching-down by noon and home by 3pm. On reflection, this was an interesting adventure to the Med coast and definitely a place I would recommend for anybody keen for a change of scenery on a decent forecast. The town of Almerimar is definitely not for those who want the loud night club scene of the Canary Islands. It’s more a place where you can chill, eat delicious food, enjoy quality sailing, catch a surf or a game of golf and generally enjoy the best of what Spain has to offer! Boasting over 300 sunny days a year and an annual average temperature of nineteen degrees, the excellent climate is ideal if you want to combine your windsurfing with a family holiday.

As for Victor, it’s the perfect place for him to recharge after his travels, catch up with his friends, spent time with his nearest-and-dearest and an ideal training ground for the tour. Each break around the world carries its own language and culture. It’s not just the wind or the waves. There are the restaurants, the stores, the roads, the trees and landscape all combining to a unique experience or ID  that spans generations. Almerimar has certainly left its imprint and shaped the sailor and man Victor is today. I personally give Almerimar the Carter Seal of Approval and hope to return next time it’s blowing 3.3m weather!
