I’ve watched Kai wear his authority role well in the industry and got to meet Ola and check out their whole R&D dynamic, which is very positive and upbeat. I can always see right away if Kai is on a good board as we’ve been sailing Ponta Preta together for 20 years and he was definitely killing it this time round on his little swallow tail. Personally, our whole development of wave boards, although strongly underway now for a 2019 revival, has been dormant for some time due to both personal and performance reasons. Personally I’ve been too stuck in my ways and performance wise had a hard time riding “modern” boards that gave me the confidence I need in the surf I usually ride in. However, being based now in Europe and closer to our customer base’s windsurfing conditions, I’ve come to see the advantages the more “new school” boards present and some of the pages turned in my own life have gotten me to the point of just being excited to develop fun product without any preconceived notions. In the meantime however, I just keep banging the lip on my crusty trusty single fin. I just grab whichever board is available in my windsurf rental fleet and give it a grind up the rocks. So far, so good.
