The iconic tidal island of St Michael’s Mount is one of the best-known landmarks on the Cornish Coast but also serves as an incredible backdrop for one of the most consistent windsurfing venues in Cornwall – Marazion. ‘Mazza’, as it is more affectionately known by the locals, is not usually the first port of call for the hard-core sailor when the conditions are firing down in the West Country but as a back-up when Gwithian or the Bluff are onshore or off the scale, this reliable location rarely fails to deliver and is a good all round venue for wavesailors, ¡freeriders and even racers have been known to compete here too back in the day! John Carter tells the tale of a classic British windsurfing beach.
