‘LOCAL INFO’
Polzeath is a beautiful bustling surf town with two awesome pubs, the Oystercatcher and Doom Bar plus lots of shops including the world famous Ann’s Cottage surf shop, TJ’s surf shop, a well-stocked Spar and a decent newsagents. During the summer the water can become pretty packed with surfers but from what we have heard they are normally a pretty friendly crowd and won’t hassle a windsurfer as long as you don’t drop in or attempt any dangerous manoeuvres in amongst the pack.
The walks between Polzeath and Daymer Bay are second to none providing spectacular views of the rugged surrounding coastline and the Atlantic Ocean in all its glory. The likes of TV shows such as Top Gear and Doc Martin have all used this area for shooting, while David Cameron and Prince Harry have spent summer holidays here and both have been snapped by the paparazzi enjoying the surf. Even Enid Blyton mentioned Polzeath in the first of her Famous Five novels, so don’t be surprised if you spot a few celebrities on your travels if you pay a visit. The combo of Polzeath and Daymer in close proximity make for an amazing family holiday destination where if you are sly there can be plenty of openings for a cheeky sail without ruining the day for the wife and kids!
