NIK BAKER

After their bold Jan/Feb issue boat trip to explore the eerie Maunsell Forts off the Kent Coastline, JC and Nik Baker couldn’t resist a minor detour on the way home to sail in front of the huge Kentish Flats offshore wind farm. Love them or hate them, in this age of renewable energy, wind farms will no doubt become a common feature off of the UK coastline. John Carter investigates:
Having ventured nine miles offshore out to the forts we had just enough fuel in the tank to check out the massive wind turbines at the Kentish Flats offshore wind farm another five miles or so downwind. With the breeze now a steady 20 knots, Nik Baker was keen to head off for a blast, so he sailed off into the distance while our boat chugged on steadily behind across the chop.
