BACKGROUND
“I grew up in a small town in the North West of Germany. I finished school there and then did one year of civil service, which you do instead of military service if you don’t want to shoot! I was based in Norderney, where Bernd Flessner comes from, probably the best wave spot in Germany. That was the time that I really started to be fully into windsurfing. Then I moved to Kiel, which is the windsurfing capital of Germany. Almost every German windsurfer that wants to go to university moves to Kiel. It’s the closest city to the North Sea and the Baltic Sea, with access to all the spots.
