Praa Sands on the south coast of Cornwall is a mile long sandy bay flanked by two gorgeous headlands. A hot spot for surfing, it can also muster incredible wave sailing in easterly or north westerly winds. Just to the west of Praa lies Prussia Cove, home to Cornwall’s most notorious smuggler, no other than ‘John Carter’ who between 1777 and 1807 ran an efficient and profitable operation and became a legend in Cornish folk law. Inspired by my namesake, I set out with Timo and Blacky on a new year’s mission to avoid the authorities (our wives!) and bring home a fresh stash of contraband shots from Praa’s shores!
