We could change the format of the racing. Right now it’s really focused on giving fair and consistent racing for the sailors. Who cares? We should be pushing towards more radical and ‘exhibition-event’ style racing. Much like these night or tow-in sessions for freestyle and waves with only the top 5 riders invited. We should be having our normal racing then, on the really windy day, have a Top-10-only battle with a special course designed to be more technical and shorter with some prize money up for grabs for only the winner. A dash-for-cash, winner-takes-all affair…they should set the course right on the beach so the spectators can literally see the blood when the guys crash in to each other. Sport and media have changed. For short-format web video, where a lot of our media focus is going, people want to see more excitement, carnage – and only the best. We should be looking to adopt this format in small doses alongside our normal racing. i.e., race all week as normal then have a 1-2 day exhibition event for the top guys. Make it fun.

Simple, race closer to the beach and in the surf! I also think that getting the public more involved, like having pro-am events and promo events with sponsors and local sailors and kids.
