GENERAL RECALL
KK “When a rider goes over the start line, ‘over early’, then the race crew have to call back all the riders to restart the race. The race crew hoist a yellow and blue triangular flag to show this has happened. It is not one you would want to see if you felt like you were pushing it at the start.”
FM “That is the situation when somebody has PMS’d! They have to call everybody back to the boat and restart the heat. It is a pain when it happens three or four times in a row.”
BVDS “When the riders get called back to the start line to do a restart!”
FR “When one or more riders are over early, usually because they are pushing too hard because their speed is not fast enough!”
DSQ
KK “Disqualified. There are a few reasons a sailor can receive a DSQ. Offensive language is one reason. In Costa Brava I sailed in a wrong heat and was disqualified and was scored a last place. If you are sailing dangerously with intent to harm somebody then that can also warrant a DSQ.”
FM “Disqualified; that is not good either! These are all the bad racing terms! I’ve done that before also! You can be disqualified for a PMS or being inside the triangle, getting physical with another rider or being abusive to the race director! We don’t have many other rules these days except those. It is pretty basic Neanderthal stuff.”
BVDS “Disqualification. I don’t know why! A number of reasons but mainly for going over early.”
FR “Disqualified! It can be any kind of reason, sailing the wrong course, sailing the wrong heat or being deliberately dangerous!”
