BACK TO REALITY
This time we went a little further south looking for wind and, just near Jordan River, we found some. One problem – no place to land the plane. We would have to go back the next day by car. Oh dear, back to reality on four wheels. We continued down to Victoria, the main city on Vancouver Island, flying-by just as the sun set, which made for some nice photos as we landed back in town. It was simply amazing. Tom had a great time showing us around and I cannot tell you how much we enjoyed our tour.
Next day we set out to sail near Jordan River, which is the closest wave sailing to Victoria – about a 2 hour drive away. This time our amazing tour guide Tom hit the road with us to show us the sights from the surface. When we arrived, it was cranking. The only thing we were missing was a slalom board and rig as the waves were nowhere to be seen. Lucky for us Tom had some flat-water gear and went out sailing. It was nice because I got be photographer with the Newms on the beach for a change. We cracked open a couple of Canada’s famous lagers and, despite not being out on the water, enjoyed another fine Canuck day.
After a couple more days searching around for spots and waiting for wind it was time to get back to the motherland of the USA, starting with a 21-hour drive to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Canada was awesome. Spectacular and scenic with generous and friendly people. Thanks for sharing the love! KP
