BRITTANY – FRENCH SCORE

OVERNIGHTER!
We spent the night in the quaint town of Audierne situated on the estuary of the River Goyen. The harbour here is lined with an array of impressive old buildings built by the merchants who once supplied the French Navy. Myself and Jamie had to deploy our best French skills to secure some accommodation and had to knock door to door in town in order to find any availability aside from one 5 star hotel. I am not sure if the women understood a word of my finest ‘O’ level French but eventually I was fairly confident we had secured two rooms for 30 euro each a night including breakfast. We had arranged to meet the French crew at a local Pizza restaurant in the village and once we had put batteries on charge we had an hour to kill before our pre-arranged rendezvous at 8pm. We were obviously forced to test out the local ales in the pub conveniently situated next to the Pizza place. Premium ales came in close to 10 euro a pint (£9) so we opted for the local brew for around 6 euro which didn’t taste too bad. It turned out to be a fun night with all the French crew, listening to their stories of great sessions on the Brittany coastline. They even tried to stitch myself and Jamie up by ordering bottles of 9% strength beer, which we duly consumed as we raised our glasses to Brexit!
