Finally after all the anticipation of the journey followed by the final, excruciating eight-hour drive we arrive at our destination to find out what’s in store for us. It’s logo high, cross-off and ‘clean as a whistle’ with just enough wind to drift out for a wave-riding-only session. Scotty and Philip scramble for their rigs, with any thoughts of tiredness straight out of the window. The conditions are pumping and it’s time to rip it up. Sometimes windsurfers spend their time chasing the biggest waves they can find but the beauty of Esperance is that it works at it’s best when it’s not too big.
