DAIDA MORENO
It was an incredible week, seven days of wind and waves. I could not have asked for more as an organizer. We had a full fleet of juniors with 35 boys and 11 girls. We had an incredible level in both the men’s and women’s fleet. The girl’s fleet was 23 strong. I have been working really hard for equal prize money for the women for many years and finally this year it went through. I was quite emotional on the podium. The extra money always helps. It was more important for me that we achieved a real goal. I always dreamed of this as an organizer and I am really proud we succeeded. Personally, I had a lot of fun sailing at my home spot in epic conditions. I tried my best. I had a lot of people cheering for me and that made me really happy. Sometimes I feel like the crowd want me to lose. My family and friends were with me at the event. It was the first time my father was not with us, so that was emotional. I dedicate this first place to him, and my mum as well who passed away a long time ago.
I was quite emotional on the podium.
