RICARDO CAMPELLO
Pozo was amazing and the conditions were on fire. It was one of the best no doubt. The level is unbelievable. Everyone is pushing harder and harder. I am really stoked to be back on the podium, it is really important for me. I had two or three really bad years where I didn’t even make the top five. I guess I was a bit unlucky. I had some great heats here, especially against Victor and Brawzinho. They were great battles. He managed to land a double forward off the lip and kicked me out. Philip was amazing! I am stoked that I finally managed to beat Victor in Pozo, I think he has beaten me the last ten times! This time I managed to advance. I was using 3.3m and 3.5m mostly and my 75 and 82 litre Brunotti Boards. The wind was extremely strong. The speeds we were reaching heading out for jumps was crazy, especially with the chop and waves in front. My watch has a GPS and my maximum speed was 56 km/h, around 30 knots. That is quite fast. The faster you go, the higher you jump, but then you have to control yourself when you take off. I love going high. It can be scary when you lose control, but when moves go wrong I have learned how to crash, how to land and when to let go. That is important. On some waves you could take off and get water in your eyes and not even see what you were doing.
Everyone is pushing harder and harder.
