The 2018 Gran Canaria Wind & Waves Festival will go down in the history books of windsurfing not only because of the insane action, but as it also marked the first event in professional windsurfing history to offer the same amount of prize money to the women as the men, a truly important milestone for our sport. Fittingly, it was the event’s 30th anniversary and was marked appropriately with seven days of non-stop proper Pozo wind, with sub 4 metre sails the choice of even the very biggest sailors. We hear from some of those involved in the competition on their experiences of a memorable week.
