ROBBY SWIFT
I actually think this was the best Pozo I have ever competed in! I have been here for sixteen years in a row and it was the best I have seen, with good conditions all through the week. We had something amazing every day. It was a little windier than I would have liked. I was pretty overpowered for all of my heats. The double elimination was slightly more manageable. I was in control most of the time on my 3.3m, but the single was out of control on 3.3m and a little bit of 3.0m. It was a bit scary, but also fun and challenging. It makes you a better sailor being so overpowered when you go back to normal sailing again. I feel like I sailed the best heats that I have ever sailed in Pozo. Unfortunately Ricardo had the heat of his life in the single and Gollito had the heat of his life in the double. That happens! I did a push forward in the heat against Pons. I knew I was losing, I was downwind and had a massive gust and flew at a really big ramp and said to myself I am just going to try it. I nailed a perfect push forward. Two judges gave me a 10 and one a 9.5, so I scored a 9.68! That made me happy. I won that heat by 0.3! Pons sailed amazing and all my friends said that is the best they have seen me sail. I was happy with that. I think Ricardo’s push forwards were the highlight of the event. He did one, or more than one, in every single heat. Philip’s stalled doubles are ridiculously amazing. I saw Jaeger do a sick push loop forward. The level of general sailing is pretty extreme. The wave riding level was through the roof as well. The jumping was the highlight. The stalled double Ricardo crashed against me was pretty insane. He already had 35 points and did not even need anything else. It is a fun event to watch and even more fun to get pumped up for!
