1: Full name?
Marcilio Browne De Oliveira Neto.
2: Date of Birth?
4 May 1989
3: How old were you when you started windsurfing and where did you learn?
I started when I was 4 in Fortaleza, Brazil. Luckily, my grandmother used to live right at the beach so me and my parents had our kit rigged in her garage, and just crossed the street to the water.
4: Did you immediately have aspirations to become a professional windsurfer?
I didn’t think about it, I just wanted to sail and be around my older friends who were sailing. I wasn’t thinking too far ahead, but I was in the water whenever I had a chance, and like any other kid watching those old videos over and over.
5: What was your original passion, Waves or Freestyle?
Waves! I started wave sailing first and I enjoyed it before Freestyle. When I was 12 I saw Kauli, Ricardo and Konan [Lang] in Fortaleza doing Freestyle, ripping and having so much fun, even when it was flat, so I started it straight away. In Fortaleza the waves are small and a bit hit-and-miss, so Freestyle was a great way to entertain myself when it was flat. Also it was an exciting time, at some stages there was a new move almost every month coming out so there were so many things to try. I got really into it.
