We arrived at Marg’s to be greeted by not exactly epic conditions, 3-4 foot, pretty onshore and not that windy! Scotty was pretty confident it would get better but as time was against us I headed out anyway, in fact the new Severne Nano boards make poor conditions loads of fun, so after 3 hours in the water with John Carter taking water shots, I came in and started to pack up ready for home! The time was now 1700 so I had loads of time to get my flight, but then we started to see some of the guys picking up a few bigger sets on main break and the wind was starting to turn more side offshore, as it normally does around this time in Marg’s. Typical, it was now looking epic! John Carter looked at me and told me this was the best time for pics, so with an hour to my deadline to leave I’m walking back down the steps to hopefully score some final waves! To say we were cutting it fine is an understatement, I literally sailed for an hour then had to run back up to the van still in my wetsuit and get changed on the way to the airport, I’m not sure how many speed cameras we went through but it must have been ok as Ben Severne still has his license I think!
