I noticed “The Dunes” on Google Earth, and drove over to see what it looked like one evening. None of the locals knew anything about windsurfing at “The Dunes”. I decided to give it a go anyways. Follow the road leading towards the lighthouse, and just before reaching the lighthouse turn left down a dirt road, which ultimately leads to a small parking area. Park next to a big man-made square of rock. When you face the water you’ll notice a dry reef and sand entry, which is by far the easiest entry and exit here. Anywhere else looks treacherous with reef and rock. Make sure you remember what it will look like from the water so you can exit at the right spot after your session. Rig so you’re well powered, because the onshore waves and wind will push you up onto the mean shore if you’re unable to make it out. If you’re inexperienced with onshore waves, don’t go out at “The Dunes”.
